15 May 2026 – Local residents confirmed that State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military forces burned down a total of nine houses in Chuncung village, Hakha township, Chin State, during the midnight hours of 14 May.

The destroyed homes, described as among the strongest structures in the village, were completely reduced to ashes in what residents said was an unprovoked attack.

The village is currently under the control of the Chin National Army (CNA) and is situated along the Falam-Hakha road.

The SSPC column responsible for the destruction is expected to return to Hakha town.

Allegations are reported saying that certain military-aligned town elders and government officials are preparing floral wreaths and other arrangements to welcome the returning troops.

This incident occurs amid an escalating conflict and humanitarian crisis across Chin State. Recent military activity by the SSPC has included multiple days of airstrikes near Mindat town, contributing to a surge in regional instability.

As the SSPC continues its advance toward Rih, over 800 civilians have been forced to flee across the border to Mizoram, India, seeking safety from the ongoing violence. – Reporting by Daniel
