24 March 2026 — Chin resistance forces carried out a landmine ambush against a State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military column on 24 March 2026 along the route between Tedim and Falam towns in Chin State.
The attack was conducted by the Chinland Defence Force – Civic Defence Militia Siyin (CDF-CDM Siyin). Initial reports indicate the blast caused casualties among junta troops, with some local accounts claiming around 10 SSPC soldiers killed, though these figures remain unconfirmed by independent sources.
A video clip purportedly related to the incident was circulated on social media by a member of the CDF-CDM Siyin. Full details of the attack, including exact casualty numbers and the precise location, could not be independently verified at the time of reporting.
Junta forces continue to maintain positions in several villages in the Falam and Tedim areas, including Valung, Zawngkawng, Parte, and Lumbang. Earlier elements of the offensive, which began in late October 2025, have also been reported in the Khuangli and Sumhrang areas northwest of Falam town.
This ambush is the latest in a series of hit-and-run operations and landmine attacks by Chin resistance groups aimed at disrupting junta reinforcement efforts along the Kalay–Falam road.
The CDF-CDM Siyin, a local defence militia with roots in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and operating primarily in the Tedim–Falam corridor, has been actively involved in defensive and guerrilla operations against junta advances.
The prolonged fighting has severely impacted civilians, with thousands displaced from villages along the main routes. Many residents have sought refuge in forests or neighbouring areas amid ongoing shelling and airstrikes.
The situation in Falam township remains fluid and tense, with both sides continuing operations amid the broader resistance against Myanmar’s military junta following the 2021 coup. – Reporting by Daniel
