6 March 2026 — The Lautu Region People’s Administration (LRPA) announced on 4 March that all motor vehicles operating in the Lautu area of Chin State must be officially registered.

According to the announcement, the requirement applies to vehicle owners living in the Lautu area as well as those residing outside the region but transporting goods into the area.

The LRPA stated that the registration aims to improve local administrative management and strengthen road safety regulations in the region.

Vehicle owners must submit their national registration number, two passport-size photos, and the driver’s name and identification details along with two photos. They are required to register their vehicles in person at the LRPA office no later than 16 March.

The LRPA also stated that no registration fee will be charged. However, those who fail to comply with the registration requirement within the specified deadline may face administrative action.
