SSPC conducts airstrikes near Mindat–Htilin–Kyaukhtu border

24 February 2026 —  A Myanmar military jet fighter from Tada-U Air Base carried out airstrikes near the border areas of Mindat township in Chin State, and Htilin and Kyaukhtu townships in Magway Region at approximately 4:02 pm on 23 February.

Reports indicate that the aircraft conducted two bombing runs, dropping a total of six bombs. Two bombs were dropped during the first strike, followed by four more in the second strike. Witnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the targeted area.

Local residents said that the SSPC military reconnaissance aircraft was seen flying over the area about 30 minutes before the airstrike. Another jet fighter was reportedly observed departing from Tada-U Air Base at around 4:36 pm and heading northwest, raising concerns about possible further air operations.

The targeted location lies at the junction of Mindat township in Chin State and the Yaw region, including Htilin and Kyaukhtu townships in Magway Region, where clashes have previously been reported.

As of the time of reporting, casualties and damage have not yet been confirmed.
