14 January 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out coordinated helicopter and air operations in Kyaukhtu township, Gangaw District, Magway Region, on Tuesday morning.
According to local sources, two Mi-17 helicopters from the Monywa Northwestern Regional Command landed inside Battalion 368 in Kyaukhtu at around 10:59 am and departed approximately five minutes later, after reportedly delivering troops and ammunition.
During the helicopter landing, two jet fighters from Tada-U Air Base carried out four airstrikes in the Kyaukhtu area between 10:41 am and 10:46 am.
At the same time, a Y-12 military transport aircraft from Tada-U Air Base was observed circling the Kyaukhtu base and conducting approximately eight bombing runs in surrounding areas while the helicopters were on the ground.
As of now, there are no confirmed reports of civilian casualties or injuries. However, local residents have been urged to remain highly alert due to the ongoing risk of further air attacks.
Kyaukhtu township has experienced repeated air and artillery operations in recent days, raising security concerns for nearby civilian communities. – Reporting by Ben
