12 January 2026 – Military air operations were reported in Htilin town, Yaw region of Magway Region, during a troop rotation on 10 January.
The incident occurred at around 11:30 am, when two Mi-17 military transport helicopters landed in Htilin town to conduct a troop rotation. The operation was supported by three jet fighter aircraft that reportedly took off from Magway Air Base.
During the landing, the jet fighters reportedly dropped three bombs on areas near Htilin town. The helicopters were reported to have transported more than 60 military personnel, including newly recruited conscripts.
This was the second troop rotation in the town, following an earlier rotation on 7 January that also involved more than 60 personnel. In total, more than 120 troops stationed in Htilin town were reportedly rotated.
After the helicopters departed, air operations continued. Two Y-12 multi-purpose aircraft, reportedly deployed from Tada-U Air Base, carried out additional bombing runs over Htilin town and surrounding areas.
Residents reported that the Y-12 aircraft conducted at least 10 aerial patrols between approximately 11:35 am and after 12:30 pm, dropping multiple bombs during each pass.
