Chin engineer died after being hit by vehicle in USA

03 November 2013: Salai Patrick Aung Naing Htwe, 34, died in a hospital after being hit by a vehicle on the Maple Shade-Cherry Hill border in New Jersey around 2am last Saturday.

The Asho Chin engineer, who works as Technical Manager at the Krannich Solar, was seriously injured and later pronounced dead at the Cooper University Hospital.

Nutei, a member of the Chin Community in UK (CCUK), said: “It is such a big loss for our CCUK. He had a big heart for Chin people and I was very proud of him. He was ready to do anything for his Chin fellows. But now we lost one of our shinning stars.”

Salai Patrick had served as an organizer and fundraiser of the Chin National Day celebrations in the UK for many years before he moved to USA.

His Facebook information suggests that he lived in Maple Shade, New Jersey. According to the Courier-Post news, the authorities believed that his apartment was near the scene of the accident.

No charges have been filed against the driver as an investigation is being carried out and police are seeking witnesses.

Growing up in Rangoon, Burma, Salai Patrick finished his bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering at the University of Surrey in UK.#
