Chin Athletes Participated in Tchoukball Championship in Vietnam

31 October 2011: The majority of men and women Tchoukball squads representing Burma in the 2nd South East Asia Tchouball Championship in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam are from Chin State.

One of the coaches, Mung Thawn Khai, said a total of 21 people from Burma including a Canadian coach left Rangoon for Vietnam last Thursday under the leadership of the Ministry of Sports.

Vietnam’s Tchouball Championship had 11 men and 6 women teams competing in its largest city.

In the final results of the SEA Championship held from 27 to 29 October 2011, Burma’s men squad ended at the fourth place behind Malaysia, Singapore and  Philippines.

The women team set their final position at the fifth below Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Singapore.

Tchoukball, which has received a wider recognition to become an international sport, is an indoor team sport invented by Swiss biologist Dr. Hermann Brandt in the 1970s.
