SSPC reinforces Kyaukhtu base and evacuates casualties by Helicopter

27 July 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) reinforced Artillery Battalion 368 in Kyaukhtu town, Saw township, with additional troops, weapons, and ammunition, while evacuating wounded personnel and the body of a deceased officer by helicopter.

The initial sources reported that two Mi-17 military transport helicopters landed at the 368 Battalion compound in Kyaukhtu at around 2:30 pm on 25 July, and remained there for approximately five minutes. The helicopters arrived from Nyaung-U Airport in Mandalay Region.

According to local sources, the helicopters evacuated approximately 30 injured Myanmar military personnel who had been gathered at the Kyaukhtu base, along with the body of an officer who had been wounded at a frontline location and died at the 368 Battalion compound on the night of 24 July.

During the operation, an Mi-35 attack helicopter provided aerial cover by firing on areas around the base. The sources also reported that approximately 50 additional troops, along with weapons and ammunition, were transported to the Kyaukhtu base.

The reported troop reinforcement and casualty evacuation took place amid continued military tensions in the Yaw region, particularly around Saw and Kyaukhtu townships. – Reporting by Ben
