18 June 2026 – Following the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military recapture of Falam town in Chin State, SSPC authorities have resumed public health services through the Department of Public Health as part of efforts to restore administrative operations in the town.

According to a local resident, routine immunization programs for children, including age-specific vaccinations and expanded immunization activities (also referred as Expanded Programme on Immunization-EPI), have resumed in Falam town.

However, during the military operation to retake the town, a number of government office buildings were damaged, resulting in the destruction of important official documents and records.

As a result, some local residents are reportedly facing significant difficulties in reapplying for household registration documents and National Registration Cards (NRCs).

The education sector has also been affected. School enrollment records and student registration lists were reportedly lost or destroyed during the fighting, creating obstacles for some students seeking to continue their education or complete school registration procedures.

Reports indicate that ongoing administrative and documentation hurdles persist, presenting difficulties for residents and students alike, even as the government attempts to re-establish services within the township. – Reporting by Daniel
