20 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out multiple airstrikes in Chin State and nearby areas on the evening of 20 May as military activity intensified across the region, according to local sources.
The initial local source reported that a fighter jet from the Tada-U airbase conducted two bombing runs on a location in Mindat town at around 4:45 pm, dropping a total of four bombs on the school in Seikhei ward. The entire school building was destroyed
Local sources also reported that two fighter jets from Tada-U airbase launched five aerial attacks on a location east of Kyaukhtu at approximately 5:11 pm.
Further details regarding the strikes of casualties and damage have not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, an estimated 800 SSPC junta troops, accompanied by 31 military vehicles, which had departed from Seikphyu in recent days, were reportedly entering the No. 24 Defence Equipment Factory (KaPaSa 24) area in Pauk township.
The latest attacks and troop movements have raised growing security concerns among local residents, with communities urged to remain alert and take precautions against possible further airstrikes and military operations. – Reporting by Ben
