27 April 2026 — The Chinland Defence Force (CDF)–Zotung has released an official statement expressing deep condolences over the death of Section Commander Salai Thien Kyaw, who was killed during military operations along the Kalay–Falam road on 26 April 2026.
According to the statement, Salai Thien Kyaw died while actively engaged in combat as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the military dictatorship and to establish a federal democratic union, in line with his commitment.
This incident occurs amid escalating violence in Chin State between the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) and local resistance groups. The conflict has been marked by the SSPC’s use of heavy aerial bombardments and banned cluster munitions, while resistance forces have countered with effective drone strikes, notably near the Var bridge in Falam township.
The CDF-Zotung paid tribute to Salai Thien Kyaw’s sacrifice, honouring his contribution to the resistance movement and extending heartfelt condolences to his surviving family members. The group reaffirmed its respect for his noble service and dedication to the revolution. – Reporting by Ben
