31 January 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) has intensified its aerial campaign in Falam township, conducting recent airstrikes that have affected civilian areas.
Aerial bombardments were carried out on Sunthla village on the night of 28 January and on Sim-Dihai village yesterday, 30 January.
The strike on Sunthla, occurring around 7:00 pm, destroyed one civilian house and damaged four others. No casualties or injuries have been reported from this incident.
A separate round of airstrikes hit Sim-Dihai village at approximately 3:00 pm yesterday. Local reports indicate that several civilian homes were set on fire, though detailed confirmation of the destruction is still pending.
Sources suggest these attacks come as clashes between SSPC troops and local defence groups have escalated, particularly near Khuangli village, which is close to Sim-Dihai.
The recent strikes follow earlier aerial attacks by the SSPC in the same township, including strikes on Sim-Dihai and Tibual villages on 11 January, and an unprovoked airstrike on Lente village on 14 January. The Lente attack reportedly damaged two Christian churches and multiple civilian buildings.
As SSPC troops advance toward Falam town—currently held by the Chin National Organization/Chin National Defence Force (CNO/CNDF)—reports indicate that the commission is heavily bombing non-military targets, including civilian homes and structures, from the air. – Reporting by Daniel
