15 December 2025 — Troops from the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) reportedly arrested and forcibly conscripted at least 10 young men directly from the streets of Kalay town, Kalay township, Sagaing Region yesterday.

According to a local resident, the arrests for military conscription occurred around 4:30 pm yesterday evening, adding: “At least 10 people were arrested, with three in the Tahan area, four in the Seikkanthar area, and three near Shwe Kyaung Taw Pagoda. They were taken directly from the street.”

These daylight arrests follow earlier reports of SSPC troops and Pyusawhti (Pro-SSPC militia) groups conducting nighttime raids in Kalay, entering private homes to apprehend young men for mandatory military service.

The Myanmar military continues its conscription campaign unabated, seizing youths whenever and wherever the opportunity arises.

The SSPC forces are reportedly carrying out arbitrary arrests for conscription on a monthly basis, with similar forced detentions reported in other Regions and States as preparations intensify for the start of Military Service Batch 21.— Reporting by Daniel
