15 November 2025 – Myanmar’s military has dramatically escalated its aerial campaign, launching a series of intense airstrikes along the volatile internal borders connecting Chin State, Sagaing Region, and Magway Region.

The operations, conducted in recent days, involved the deployment of both jet fighters and a Y-12 military transport aircraft.

The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), formerly known as the State Administration Council (SAC), carried out what were described as indiscriminate aerial bombardments in the southern part of Sagaing Region yesterday. The area suffered at least four consecutive strikes—two around 12:00 p.m. and two more approximately an hour later.

Initial reports indicate the first two attacks involved conventional bombs. However, subsequent strikes reportedly included the use of cluster munitions, marking a severe escalation in the junta’s tactics.

The bombardment continued at approximately 2:00 pm, with jet fighters, believed to have originated from Tada-U Air Base, striking the target zone. Concurrently, a Y-12 aircraft, reportedly from Magway Air Base, dropped additional explosives on the same area, constituting the third round of attacks in a single afternoon.

The use of cluster-type munitions during the second wave of strikes, as reported by The Yaw Alinn Tan, suggests the military broadened its operational scope in the early afternoon.

The targeted location was struck again roughly an hour later, bringing the total number of air attacks to at least five within a short period. Casualty figures remain unverified, and independent assessments are ongoing.

This follows earlier air activity last Tuesday, when Myanmar military jet fighters launched several airstrikes around 7:30 am in the Saw area, followed by a bombing run at about 2:30 pm in Htilin township, Magway Region.

In separate recent operations, the SSPC utilized military aircraft to airdrop food supplies and weapons into key conflict areas, including Gangaw township, Yaw areas, and Htilin township. – Reporting by Benjamin
