Since 22 November, the Chinland Council joint forces have been attacking SAC camps under the “Operation Jericho,” seizing many camps and controlling the Hakha-Thantlang main road.
- SAC soldiers based in Kalay town reportedly arrested young men under military conscription laws, demanding 50 lakh kyats for their release. Locals said arrests happened during guest list checks or for minor offenses like not wearing helmets or carrying passengers on motorcycles. Those unable to pay are sent to recruitment for military training. The SAC also fines 100,000 kyats if they [SAC] find NUG-related posts on a person’s Facebook. Fearing arrest, many young men now avoid public spaces, leading to a labor shortage in businesses.
- The leader of the Chin National Organization/Chin National Defence Forces (CNO/CNDF) has called for the contribution to procure weapons and ammunition to help seize Falam and Mindat towns in Chin State, where fighting has continued since 9 November. Despite using aircraft to attack the towns, the SAC force could not reinforce their soldiers from the base camp. The CNO/CNDF leaders appealed for support, emphasizing unity and prayer for victory. The SAC airstrikes have damaged towns, burned homes and killed seven people including two health workers in a 26 November attack on Lumte village, Falam township.
- Over 200 Chin IDPs from six villages in Ngape township, Magway Region, urgently need food aid. They fled fighting in April and November, and are now living in forests or fields, with dwindling food supplies. They also require warm clothes and medicine for winter. “About four villages have already built shelters in the forest. Others run when soldiers come. And they return home when the area is safe,” said the IDP Coordinator.
- The Kalay-Hakha bus line has resumed operations after a month-long suspension caused by fighting in Falam town. Currently, only the Shwe Lwin Pyin bus line is operating, charging 300,000 kyats per passenger with an overnight stop. As Falam town remains inaccessible, buses are using the Kalay–Tedim–Rihkhawdar–Hakha route, instead. The clashes in Falam town, which began on 9 November, forced all residents to flee, and the Kalay–Falam–Hakha road remains closed, according to local residents in Kalay town.
