Chin women to organize conference in 2014

26 November 2013: In an attempt to forge cooperation and promote women empowerment, Chin women are making a concerted effort to organize a conference next year.

The announcement was made following a recent meeting held in Hakha among Chin women on 15 November, in which a new organization, the Chin Women Organizations Network (CWON), was formed.

When asked about the event, one of the newly elected committee members told Chinland Guardian: “There is a plan and we will have to work hard to make it happen. We hope that it happens so.”

She added that the conference was planned to be as much inclusive as possible and that they wanted to invite Chin women from both inside and outside of the country.

According to the Hakha Post, the new committee of the organization is made up of members from various Chin tribal groups, organizations and places including the Chin diaspora.#
