Chin Athletes Won Medals In SEA Games 2009

30 December, 2009: Three Chin athletes representing Burma won three medals at the 25th SEA Games held in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos in December 2009.

Aung Ngeain, Kap Cin Pau and Mai Nilar Htwe had celebrated their successful haul of one gold, two silver and one bronze medals.

Aung Ngeain, 24, from Mindat, Southern Chin State, secured one silver in women’s 70m compound bow individual and one gold in women’s compound bow team in archery. She also participated at the 24th SEA Games held in Thailand in 2007.

A 26-year-old Tedim-Chin, Kap Cin Pau, won his silver medal in Men’s over 50kg up to 55 kg Judo and Mai Nilar Htwe,30, from Kalewa her bronze medal in women football. Mai Nilar Htwe has been known for her winning goals during the AFF Women’s Championship 2008 held in Vietnam.

Chin people across the globe sent messages, congratulating the three athletes over their recent triumph at the Laos SEA Games 2009.

It was the first time Laos had held the Southeast Asian Games. A number of competitions started prior to the opening ceremony on 9 December and the game came to a spectacular end on 18 December, 2009.
