Senior govt official likely to visit Chin State
23 January 2013: One of the senior officials from the central government of Burma is believed to make a trip to Hakha, Chin State in the near future.
Sources from Chin State government said the President or one of the Vice Presidents will make an official visit to the Chin capital for the first time in years in the last week of this month or early next month.
As of today, further details about the trip including duration and date of arrival still remain unknown, according to the Chinland Post, a local news agency in Hakha.
The government of Chin State is said to have been preparing reports supposedly focusing on security issues and other departmental activities to be presented to the official.
Among top leaders from the administration, Vice President Dr. Sai Mauk Kham, an ethnic Shan politician of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), is most expected to be visiting Burma’s western state bordering India.
