Hundreds of Villagers Provided Free Medical Checkup in Chin State
01 July 2012: A group of Chin and Mizo doctors and nurses last week offered a free medical checkup for hundreds of patients in Zonuamzaang and Kimlai villages of Tedim Township, Chin State.
About 250 local villagers received treatments, medicines and mosquito nets as well as school materials for children during the two-day voluntary service, organized by Kalay-based Lairawn Zirsang Pawlkom (LZP) as part of the Medical Outreach Program from 23-24 June 2012.
More than 20 members of LZP, four doctors and six nurses got involved in providing medical assistance and aid contributed by Chin individuals living in Kalaymyo of Sagaing Division, according to the Chin World Media and the Chinland Today.
LZP’s report on the third trip of the program highlighted their regret at being unable to meet the needs of the local patients in giving free-of-charge medical services and materials during their recent visit.
The team said of their plans to continue the ‘noble’ mission to reach out more villages in Chin State as they urged for more contributions and donations while acknowledging the immediate benefits of their work to the local communities.
