Gospel Music Festival to be Held in Rangoon

20 September 2011: The 2nd Gospel Music Festival (GMF) is scheduled to take place at the Thuwanna National Stadium in Thingangyun, Rangoon, Burma from 14-16 October 2011.

The event will see Burma’s famous Christian singers including Chaw Suh Khin, Chit Tuh Wai, M Sai, Nadi Htike, Nanda, Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein, Sangpi, Saw Phu Khua, Sung Tin Par, and Zamnu performing in front of the expected 10,000 people.

Peter Din, from Buannel Media, told Chinland Guardian that the festival committee are in full preparation for the upcoming event and that they have so far raised about half of the fund needed.

The programme will include sessions of sermons and preaching from various well-known Christian pastors from both Burma and abroad.

“The great thing about GMF is that it is a multi-denominational festival and it creates a platform for all Christians from different backgrounds to meet together and share with each other,” said the statement released today.

Organised by committee members of different denominations in Burma, the Christian festival is to launch its nationwide invitation and advertisement on MTRV-4 and Sky Net, according to the committee.

The first GMF event was held at Myanmar Convention Center (MCC) in Rangoon for three days in November last year, with more than 4,000 participants and about 2000 copies of DVD production were distributed.

This year’s festival is also set to be followed by a DVD production of the whole concert and a magazine publication.
