7 July 2026 — A member of Pyusawhtee ( SSPC-Pro_militia) accused of participating in the Lel Ma village massacre in Gangaw township, Magway Region, has been captured alive by a local resistance group, according to local sources.
The suspect, identified as Mr. Chit San Nyo Ko, also known as ‘Mae Gyi,’ was captured alive at around 10:00 am on 6 July by the Black Dragon Force, a local resistance group operating in Gangaw township.
Local sources said he is believed to be a close associate of a Gangaw-based Pyusawhtee leader known as P2 Phoe Zaw.
Chit San Nyo Ko is accused of taking part in the 12 May 2025 raid on Lel Ma village alongside troops from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 50. During the operation, 11 people, including four children, resistance fighters, and civilians, were reportedly killed.
Local sources further alleged that the suspect regularly accompanied LIB 50 on military operations, assisted in transporting supplies to a military outpost in Yay Myet Ni village, Htilin Township, and previously served for about three months at the “We Love Gangaw” bridge checkpoint at the entrance to Gangaw town.
The Black Dragon Force said the suspect remains in its custody while investigations are ongoing.
The SSPC military has not commented on the reported capture.
The allegations against the suspect and details surrounding his reported involvement in the Lay Ma killings could not be independently verified. – Reporting by Ben
