30 March 2026 – A State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military column, estimated at 300 troops, suffered heavy casualties, including the deaths of Colonel Win Maung Maung and Major Zin Myo Tun, during a sustained mine ambush in Tedim township, Chin State.
The attack, attributed to local resistance forces, occurred while the column was attempting a reinforcement mission to Falam township.
The 15-day mission, which began on 4 March and concluded on 19 March, involved an attempt to march from an undisclosed starting point to Falam town. Throughout the operation, the column faced repeated assaults from the Chinland Defence Force-Civic Defence Militia-Siyin (CDF CDM-Siyin).
The deadliest engagement reportedly took place on 19 March between the villages of Taingen and Zawngkawng in Tedim township, where the SSPC troops entered a pre-laid minefield.

Local resistance sources claim the coordinated mine attacks resulted in the deaths of approximately 60 soldiers, including the column commander, Colonel Win Maung Maung, and Major Zin Myo Tun.
An unspecified number of troops were also severely injured, with reports indicating the wounded were evacuated to the Regional Command Headquarters (DaKaSa) in Kalay town, Sagaing Region.
Despite the significant setback, local sources report that the junta forces are continuing their efforts to reinforce and station troops in the eastern, western, and northern sectors of Falam township, a region that has seen intense fighting since the 2021 military coup. – Reporting by Daniel
